[edit] Players for the 2007 season by position

The Tecumsehs are a versatile bunch. Most people play at least two positions (often with varying degrees of success):

Co-ed softball requires that there are an equal number of men and women in the infield (1B, 2B, 3B and SS) and in the outfield (LF, CL, CR, RF). In addition the battery (the pitcher and catcher) must also be a male / female team. This gives a total of 10 defensive players and with the addition of a male and female extra player (EP) who can also bat, means a co-ed softball team is either 5 and 5 or 6 and 6.

[edit] Captain

At the pre-season squabble in February 2007, Shell Grayson found herself captain of the Tecumsehs for the season and promptly declared that she should be (a) addressed as "'Captain, my Captain'" for the remainder of the season and (b) bought lots of real ale and none of that sh*tty lager, thank you very much.

[edit] Coach

The Tecumsehs have a coach. Yes, really. By tradition the Tecumseh coach is Canadian (largely in deference to our softballing roots rather than due to any belief in the superiority of Canuck ball players). The other tradition with the coach is that a ceremonial sacking takes place after the last game of the season. No one is quite sure why. Perhaps it ties into the Tecumseh fear of practice. This year's coach was Larry Nelson.
