Letter from Jenny Fromer, Tournament Organiser
- Captain's meeting
There will NOT be a Captain's Meeting, but all teams should check in at Tournament Control in advance of their first game to collect rubbish bags, info packs and to deal with any questions.
- Money
For teams that have not yet paid, please do so at Tournament Control before start of play.
- Tournament Control
Tina Franchi will be the TC for the tournament and all scores must be phoned through to her following each game.
Any game decisions, appeals, etc. will be referred to umpire crew chief Jes Sandhu – his decision will be final.
- Start Time
First game for 8 (out of 12) C teams and 8 (out of 10) B teams will be 9.00. Teams not playing the first game should be ready to play at 10.00 (in case game times need to be shortened).
- Format
B Tournament
Two groups of 5 teams – playing 4 group games. The final will be between the two group winners and will be a full 7 innings.
C Tournament
Three groups of 4 – 3 round-robin games. Rankings of 1-4 in each group will determine whether teams move into groups' 1,2,3 or 4. These groups will then play 2 round-robin games to determine final rankings. There will be no final per se, so all games will be timed games.
Games will be 60 minutes, with no new inning after 50 minutes. Full ISF rules will apply, EXCEPT that teams can ask their opposition to allow a courtesy runner and teams can play with 9 players if necessary (but would have to take an automatic out in the 10th batting spot).
Note: Unfortunately 6 teams will have a double-game break (lunch, plus a game break). I can only apologise for this – this was quite a complicated schedule to fit on to 8 pitches!
- Batting Out
Games will NOT be batted out. If after, no new innings are called, the away team has batted, and the home team is ahead, the game will be called. If the home team is behind or the game is tied, after no new innings are called, the home team will bat, but the game ends on the play that wins the game (i.e. once the winning run crosses the plate). If the final play is a homerun with a runner or runners on, all runs in that play (at bat) count, and then the game ends.
- Where the Revert Rule Applies
If game time is called and the inning has not been completed (i.e. the home team is not ahead), the game would revert to the last complete inning – in round-robin games TIES WILL STAND.
- Tie-Breakers
If two are more teams are tied for position after a round-robin stage, the following will be used to separate teams:
Direct head-to-head results Runs conceded between tied teams Drawing of lots
- Points
For the round-robin stage 2 points will be awarded for a win, 1 for a draw and zero for a loss. All other games will be decided and ISF tie-break rules will be used if necessary.
- First Aid
Sports Therapy UK will be on site in the case of minor injury or advice. If someone is injured in your game please call Tournament Control to send someone over. For serious injuries, the first call should be for an ambulance.
- Catering
Nats and John will be on site with their lunch truck and will be selling a range of hot and cold food.
- Facilities
Toilets are available in the main buildings and there will be 2 additional portaloos on site as some pitches will be a long way from the buildings.
- Parking
Plenty of parking is available directly across the road from the site (with overpass footbridge access). Parking is pay & display and costs £6 for 6 hours or £8 for 24 hours.
Do not try and park near the main buildings of the ground.
- Rubbish
Can I make a special plea for people to be really diligent about bagging up their rubbish and if it doesn't all fit, to get extra bags from the control point. Also, can smokers please make an effort to pick up their butts and throw them away. Finally, any help in bringing full bags in from the field to the control point will be hugely appreciated.
